Even though Resident Evil 6 comes out in less than two months, new information has surfaced from Gamescom.
First up is a new service to be launched alongside the game called ResidentEvil.net. This is a free stat tracking service that will pull data directly from your game. This includes pretty much every stat you can thing of and they will then be compared to the rest of the world. In addition to having stat comparisons, the service will also allow Capcom to schedule events. Capcom gives the example that
“one weekend the goal is to kill 10,000 zombies. Everyone who has an RE.net account and plays during that time period will receive RE.net points that can be redeemed on the site for a variety of goodies – chief among them new costumes that appear in the actual game.”
Now that sounds pretty cool to me and should be a good way to keep players playing the game after launch. For more information on the service, direct your browser here.
Capcom has also released two new trailers for Resident Evil 6 to get you even more excited. One features Leon in a dark Subway and the other has Jake and Sherry trapped in a Cabin (a la Re4). Resident Evil 6 will be available October 2nd for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
