Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age coming to PS4

Fresh off an exciting 2016, Final Fantasy lovers have plenty to look forward to this year, including Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
Square Enix announced this week in Tokyo, during an event celebrating Final Fantasy’s 30th anniversary, that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will be released for the PlayStation 4 on July 11.

The Zodiac Age will be a remastered version of the role-playing game that was released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2.

Final Fantasy XII was the first single-player game in the series to have real time combat instead of the random battles of past games. The Gambit system was also featured, which can program characters with certain behaviors. For example, you could start telling a certain character to heal an ally character with health below a certain percentage and other programs like that.

The remastered Zodiac Age will have HD graphics and the soundtrack will be re-recorded so the players will have a fresh experience will revisiting their favorite game. In addition, new features will be added, which include the ability to fast-forward the game’s speed while traveling, as well as a trial mode, which pits players against a series of around 100 intense battles.

This remastered game will be breaking some new ground for U.S. players because they will finally get to see features added to the International version of the game released in Japan, specifically the Zodiac Job system.

In the original non-Japanese game, all players progressed through the same License Board, which allowed them to unlock new abilities. The Zodiac Job system makes each heroes’ progression more unique.
