Fanatical Fashion | Meet Ashley From GoFollowRabbits

Earlier this week, I posted an article about the skirts made by the Etsy shop GoFollowRabbits. Let me introduce you to Ashley.

Ashley is the mastermind behind the incredible work at Go Follow Rabbits. Not only has she designed all the skirts I showed you in Time Machine Inspired Full Skirtthe article (If you want to check it out, click here!), but she also makes them and ships them all around the world. I think it’s about time I got to know this amazing designer a little better:

Can you tell us about yourself?
I am an eccentric east coast girl who lives in New York City with my husband. I have a degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and have been designing clothing professionally for young women for the past 5 years. I have been lucky enough to work for some amazing designers and companies. Using this experience, I created my own brand Go Follow Rabbits through which I am able to express my creativity even further.
How long have you been making skirts?

I opened up my Etsy shop Go Follow Rabbits in March 2011 to sell my creations, but have been sewing for at least 10 years now making everything from costumes to corsets to wedding gowns.

Loki Inspired Full SkirtWhat inspired you to start making skirts?

My husband, actually. He’s very much into different types of fandoms, more so than myself and he inspired me to create unique clothing. I saw a lack of fun and flirty items for girls at the time and decided I wanted to help girls like me who want more than t-shirts.

Have you got a favorite skirt to make?
I enjoy designing the prints for the skirts the most. I try to make them abstract and not so obvious. My favorites are R2D2, Sally, & Belle’s Library.
What skirts are you planning on doing next?

I am always on the lookout for new ideas, its hard to focus sometimes because I get very busy with my day job and everyday chores. I hope to create new ones very soon!

Do you take custom orders?

Retro Video Game Controller Full Skirt

I always take custom orders, many of my designs are inspired by customer requests.

Have you got any advice for people who are hoping to make skirts as awesome as yours?

I suggest that people be original; when you spend time and come up with something unique its very rewarding to see the response. Its also equally as hard watching people copy your ideas which is why its so important to create something of your own.

Where can you been found on the internet?

I have an Etsy store and a Facebook page.

If you’ve liked any of Ashley’s work at Go Follow Rabbits, please be sure to support her! Come back to the Fanatical Fashion corner of The Game Fanatics next week to see who takes the fashion spotlight!
