Guess who’s back? Left 4 Dead developers, Turtle Rock, have just announced their return to the video game crowd. With none other than the Game Informer giving us the good stuff, as they’ve announced that the February cover will be the new Evolve artwork, Turtle Rock have been eager to release this news in the greatest way they can.
Turtle Rock have created a first person, multiplayer co-op shooter, with Sci-Fi being the targeted genre. With 2K Games backing, it has been reported that this is a next-gen IP only, meaning it will only be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. Take-Two Interactive, ergo, 2K Games paid a colossal $10.8 million for the IP at the THQ auction last year, where Turtle Rock only bid $250,000.
The Evolve multiplayer involves 5 people, 4 of which are a team who play as alien hunters, and the 5th who plays the ever evolving (see what they did there?) alien, which grows bigger and better as the matches go on. Whilst it may seem like the world is against the alien during the match, with a set of catastrophic attacks which would be fatal to the player if they don’t play it clever, it can be recognized that the 5th player wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.
However, that’s not to say that the game is lost to the alien before it’s even started. The 4 players all have different attacks, so when the alien hunters work together, they can become an unbeatable team if the alien doesn’t play wise. It’s safe to say that this game would be best played with friends, if you want to have some fun and maybe win in the process, or a clan who want to win and have some fun in the process.
In my opinion, I’m looking forward to seeing what this game brings to the table. Turtle Rock have always been able to pride themselves on the enjoyment gamers can have whilst playing their games, so I really think this will be something to look out for. As a gamer who likes to have a strong team, but have a few laughs in the process, I can’t wait for gameplay footage.
