If you’re like me and are in love with the current Zombie phenomenon that’s taking the world by storm, then you’ll love the new trailer developer Techland unveiled yesterday for their zombie apocalypse survival game Dying Light.
In the trailer, Techland provides viewers with a sneak peak into both the story and the immersive world that they’ve built. A world born from the influence of horror themed literary classics. “Looking for inspirations for Dying Light, we delved into classics of international literature, such as Albert Canumus’s The Plague and Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness,” reveals Rafal Orkan, who is both a novelist as well as the co-author of Dying Light’s story. “With our game we wanted to evoke similar emotions and and offer players an insight into how people react to the extreme.”
In the game players will take the role of an undercover operative named Kyle Crane, whose mission is to explore the quarantine zone of a city devastated by a mysterious epidemic that has turned its citizens into zombies. Crane’s been sold on the idea that everything he’s been commanded to do is for “the greater good,” but in the midst of all the chaos caused by warring factions, he can’t help but wonder when the “greater good” starts to become necessary evil.
Roger Craig Smith will provide the voice of Crane, and the actor seems blown away by the visuals and presentation of the game already. “Going into Dying Light, I was blown away by the visuals of the game and was surprised by such a mature, intense script. I’m honored Techland let me be a small part of this gritty tale of survival,” Smith States. “Can’t wait to see people’s reactions when they find out what’s really going on in the story and I can’t wait to play the game myself.”
Let us know what you guys think of Techland’s teaser of the intense world that they’ve created.
