Super Bowl Edition – Weekly Movie Trailer Recap

January is never kind to both movies and movie trailers. Many consider it the throwaway month for movies. That all changes with February though! Thanks to the Super Bowl, we have quite the collection of new movie trailers to watch! We have a lot of them too for this Weekly Movie Trailer Recap. So let’s jump right in!

Stranger Things

First up was probably the biggest hit on Sunday, and that was Stranger Things. This trailer is our very first look into what lies ahead for the popular Netflix series. It wasn’t long, and technically it isn’t a movie, but it was just right to raise all the hype levels. Stranger Things Season 2 will be out this Halloween. Excuse me while I enter cryosleep.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Last year, we received a quick tease into the world of the next Pirates film. This week, we got our first real look into Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. That is actually quite the title when you put it all together. This fifth installment follows Captain Salazar on his hunt to kill every last pirate, including Jack Sparrow. Dead Men Tell No Tales will be out on May 26th, 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Disney didn’t stop with just one Super Bowl trailer, they had another one up it’s sleeve. This one being Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While we all know the original squad, this new trailer showcases a few new members of the Guardians. These include the first film’s Yondu and Nebula, and also newcomer Mantis. Coincidentally this film also comes out in May, on the 5th. You can’t say no to Baby Groot. It’s impossible!

The Fate of the Furious

The furiousness never ends in a new The Fate of the Furious trailer. The new look includes mostly old footage from the first trailer, but there are a few shots and jabs of humor added. As with any Super Bowl ad, it is quick and to the point – showcasing the absolute craziest scenarios that have hit the big screen. Watch The Fate of the Furious on April 14th, 2017 to pregame the summer movie season.

Logan

I’ve returned and this time I am holding nothing back! Well, while I share a name with the movie title, I am unfortunately not in the film (Editor’s Note: Boooooo). However, you can expect to see Hugh Jackman play the Wolverine one last time on the big screen in Logan. Judging from the trailer, it appears to be setting up X-23 into the X-Men universe to take his spot. Logan releases the same day the Nintendo Switch does; March 3rd, 2017.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Optimus Prime throws Bumblebee around in this new look for Transformers: The Last Knight. This film marks the end of director Michael Bay’s run on the long running franchise. Fret not robot fans, Hasbro has plenty of Transformers films and spin-offs planned. I usually cannot stand the story in the Transformers films, but I am a huge sucker for the CGI and giant robot fights. Join the fray on June 23rd.

That does it! Finally made it through a plethora of new trailers from Sunday. It makes up for the month of January being so bare. That’s okay though, there are a lot of movies to look forward in theaters this month and beyond. Thanks for checking out this edition of Weekly Movie Trailer Recap!
