Coming ten years after the original Drakengard for PlayStation 2, Drakengard 3 is prequel to the first game and is finally seeing light on this current generation PlayStation hoping to get fans of the series pumped. Like the two previous Drakengard titles, this game is an action-role playing game with ground combat and of course the signature, aerial combat on the back of a dragon.

Unfamiliar with Drakengard, or a newcomer to the series? Drakengard 3 is a great way to jump in by playing the prequel to the original Drakengard. Drakengard 3’s setting takes place in a medieval world in which the “Intoners”, six goddess-like sisters, have brought peace to the earth with their power to use magic through harmony. Zero, the eldest sister, attempts to murder her younger siblings with the help of her dragon companion, Mikhail. The “Intoners” true intentions are revealed and the mystery of Zero is unraveled as player’s battle to learn the truth.

Players will face hordes of fiends and enemies with some satisfying hack-and-slash ground combat and pitched aerial battles on the back of Mikhail that the series is known for. Drakengard 3 will be available on PlayStation 3, PSN, and Square Enix Online Store for $49.99 in 2014.
