Before you get too excited, there is no new game coming out from From Software – sorry to set that fire in your belly. But for those hunters who tread the streets of Yharnam in search of blood and Bloodborne you’re about to have company; same goes for Ashen Ones fending off the un-dead for the First Flame in Dark Souls 3.Both the Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 communities have decided to start a reboot, which essentially means players of the game will start a brand new character and traverse through it all at the same time. The Beckoning Bells of Bloodborne and Summon Signs of Dark Souls will become more active than ever. If you’ve never played a Souls type game before and want to pick it up this is your time, veterans and green horns alike will be battling together! And when you get to Ludwig the Accursed or Pontiff Sulyvahn you may want some help…
(I may want some help)
This kind of reboot is completely community driven, which is so great to see in video games. A game can’t really die if a devoted group of people continue a resurgence every so often and keep interest in it alive. Any game with a cult following could benefit from this kind of love – I know I’d love to see more Vault Hunters to take on “Raiders of the Last Boss” in Borderlands 2 – all it really takes is the devotion of the fan base.
The official community reboot for Bloodborne is called The Black Moon Reboot and started yesterday. Dark Souls 3 and it’s reboot Return to Lordran starts on October 4th (just in time for October 25th and the DLC). You can read more on the reboots on the Reddit community pages. Let us know in the comments if you’re planning to restart a character in either game or what game you’d like to see get a shot in the arm from the community so we can all enjoy it again as a group.
If you’re venturing around Old Yharnam and ask a librarian lookin’ hunter in red glasses for help, it might just be me.
