Dark Souls 3’s Ashes of Ariandel DLC Gets New Trailer

Dark Souls 3

A game play trailer has been released for the new Dark Souls 3 DLC Ashes of Ariandel; it’s frosty, bloody and viking-y and there seems to be a few familiar faces in there too.

Ashes of Ariandel is the first DLC set to be released October 25th on all platforms and like the Dark Souls DLC before it looks impressive. If you’ve played Dark Souls 1 or 2 you know that every DLC was crazy, expansive, and really hard – I’m looking right at you Aava. This new iteration of DLC looks just as promising, it seems like the church/Norse vibe seen in the release trailer was right on the money as the trailer features some brutish viking thugs, some big berserker knights, and a fight within a cathedral.

Dark Souls

What was interesting to some was the giant wolf that the Ashen One fights in an ice pit, who looks a lot like our favourite hound of Dark Souls 1 – Sif. This giant wolf is accompanied by a sword and shield wielding human, it remains to be seen if this new wolf/human duo has anything to do with Sif and Artorias the Abysswalker from Dark Souls 1.

The final similarity comes from the last boss fight shown to us in the DLC trailer. An elegant woman festooned in silken robes wields a scythe and walks around in bare feet, despite it being below zero – sounds like Crossbreed Priscilla. But this is just the wild speculation of a fan.

More information on the game and its story line will no doubt be revealed closer to the release date, on October 25th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
