Crucial Announces New Line of Affordable SSD’s

When Solid State Drives (SSD’s) first appeared on the market they were outrageously expensive. A simple 60 GB SSD could cost you nearly $200 USD. But as time marched forward and the technology used to create these ultra-fast storage devices improved, we’ve seen a drop in price and an increase in performance.

And today, Crucial have announced a brand new line of SSD’s with the consumer in mind and to place a fire under the competition. The new v4 SSDs being offered by Crucial are specifically designed to be affordable and have great performance on a SATA 3.0 Gb/s interface.

Tech Specifications:

‘Why pay for performance you can’t use?’ The logic behind that statement is spot on. The performance that some SSD’s offer we’ll never be achieved in a normal environment. Even if they were used by people who consider themselves PC Enthusiasts, the types of sequential read and write speeds are only significant when moving large files back and forth.

These SSD’s will be affordable (like I mentioned earlier) making it easier for people who’ve been seeking faster boot times but didn’t want to invest a small fortune into a relatively low capacity SSD for a high price margin. The v4 SSD’s are priced at $49.99 (32 GB), $69.99 (64 GB), $99.99 (128 GB), and $189.99 (256 GB).

So for anyone who’s wanted to jump into the future of SSD technology here’s your chance.
