Co-op Shooter Left 4 Dead 2 Comes to Xbox One

Back in January, it was said that Left 4 Dead 2 would become backwards compatible on the Xbox One at some point. Turns out, players can now download the co-op zombie shooter title on the current generation.

Earlier in the week, Microsoft announced three more titles to join the growing list of backwards compatible games on Xbox One: Halo Wars, The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match and Soul Calibur 2. As of right now, 150 Xbox 360 titles are now available for players to dig back into their backlog for the game that just got away.

Left 4 Dead 2 first came out in 2009 on the Xbox 360 and Steam. The game focused on heavy cooperation with other players to advance towards the safe house and, ultimately, to escape their hostile environments while fighting off hordes of the undead. For the competitive folks, multiple games modes allow players to command the special infected and attempt to stop other players from reaching their objective. Up to 8 players could partake in these events and with this new option for play, the online lobbies might see a resurgence.

Surprisingly, the sequel makes its Xbox One appearance before the original game, Left 4 Dead. Though with this recent release, one would only imagine the predecessor can’t be too far behind.

So far, this is the current March list for the Xbox One backwards compatible titles:

  • Alan Wake
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
  • PAC-MAN
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Dark Void
  • Grid 2
  • Dark Souls
  • Tekken Tag Tournament
  • Halo Wars
  • Soul Calibur 2 HD
  • King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match
  • Left 4 Dead 2
