Case West is Live: Newest Dead Rising 2 Standalone DLC Released

Don’t look now, but Chuck Greene from Dead Rising 2 is about to meet the other half of the franchise’s active protagonist slate in a new downloadable episode out today for Xbox 360.

Joystiq reports today that Dead Rising 2: Case West is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace at a price point of $10.00 (or 800 in Microsoft Points) and features Greene teaming up with Frank West from the original Dead Rising to conquer the undead in a short sequel/epilogue pertaining to Dead Rising 2. Despite the double cost increase over the previous standalone DLC release Case Zero, it should be noted that the latter racked up 600,000 downloads right after it was labeled as the “most dynamic sales weapon” by publisher Capcom.

The new episodic standalone takes both West and Greene to an Zombrex research facility, and takes full advantage of the two-man team mechanic by adding co-op gameplay and once again utilizing West’s camera for some clever photograpy opportunities. That’s important, because Greene has lost everything that “would have cleared his name” (according to the Xbox Live Marketplace description), hence the need to get whatever evidence they can find regarding Phenotran’s dark, twisted plot… before it’s too late.
