Call of Duty Championship Starts Today

The best Call of Duty players in the world are gathering to compete for big prizes. Sponsored by Xbox and hosted by Activision and Treyarch, the Call of Duty Championship hopes to “celebrate the amazing skill and dedication of Call of Duty’s best eSports athletes from around the world.” 32 top teams from Call of Duty: Black Ops II will participate in the competition, going head-to-head for a chance at the $1 million dollar prize purse.

The entire event will be streamed live, through Xbox Live, and available officially through various website online. If you don’t have Xbox Live or would rather watch it elsewhere, you can get it from GameSpot, Xbox.com, the Call of Duty Facebook page, Call of Duty Elite, and Twitch.tv.

The teams, coming countries all over the world, will have two days to show their stuff. Asia’s InFiDream, Ireland’s Epsilion.IRL, Brazil’s Made in Brazil, and US teams such as OpTic Gaming and Fariko.Impact have been training endlessly for the tournament. Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg is excited for the tournament, stating:

The Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox isn’t just another gaming tournament, it’s a celebration of Call of Duty and a recognition of the franchise’s most dedicated, talented players.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of the multiplayer, but we wish good luck to all teams involved. The Call of Duty Championship is currently underway, and is set to end April 7.
