Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Strolls Onto Mobile Next Month

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Nintendo to release first mobile Animal Crossing title late this November.

The company announced Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in a recent Nintendo Direct. The app will feature an Animal Crossing style campground that players will be able to decorate. In this release, players will take on the role of “campsite manager.”

Similar to other franchise titles, the game will be based around running errands for residents to further the development of an area.

The announcement video features typical activities such as fishing, gathering, bug catching and landscape development.  Building different kinds of furniture for the campsite will be the main focus of the game. Animals will have different tastes in decor that players will need to cater to in order to keep residents around. Each piece of furniture will have its own recipe full of materials that the player will collect before having the item crafted.

Other returning features include the Nook Brothers, the Able Sisters, and Kicks the shoe retail store. A multiplayer feature will also be making its stay in the gaming experience. Players will be able to visit their friends’ campsites.

One new feature in the game will be the concept of friendship levels.  In addition to attracting new residents, players will now be able to track how well the various animals like the player.

Similar to other franchise titles, the player avatar will be customizable.  Players will be able to choose their character’s hair and clothes. Besides decorating the campsite, players will have the ability to decorate their own campers from outside paint to indoor furniture.

Due to the popularity of the franchise, this game may likely be Nintendo’s best mobile title to date. Pocket Camp has been in the works for some time but was delayed from its planned March release. Nintendo instead released Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes for mobile.
