AMD Expands its Desktop Lineup With Fusion APU's

AMD annouced today the availability of the AMD A-Series Accelerate Processing Unit or (APU) for short. There are two models currently available. You have the A4-3300 and the A4-3400 desktop processors bringing the entry level desktop APU price down to just around $70. These processors are geared towards someone who want’s a PC but doesn’t want to break the bank. Something that can surf  the internet relatively well and watch HD videos without any problems.

Both of these APU’s combine two x86 CPU cores with 160 Radeon™ cores which enable powerful DirectX® 11 capable discrete level graphice dedicated to HD video processing on a single chip. These dual core chips are responsive and energy efficent, perfect for everyday use, multi-tasking, and gaming experience. Below are a list of the technologies these APU’s support.

 

  • AMD Steady Video– for instant removal of shakes and jitters when re-watching video, so content looks steady and smooth.
  • AMD Dual Graphics– for a visual performance boost when paired with select AMD Radeon™ HD 6000 Series graphics cards.
  • Integrated USB 3.0 controller– for rapid transfer and storage of digital content.
  • AMD VISION Engine Software– to provide users with regular updates to help improve system performance and stability, and to introduce new software enhancements.

With a suggested retail price of $70.00, the AMD A4-3300 APU operates at 2.5GHz (CPU) and 444MHz (GPU) with 160 Radeon™ Cores, with 1MB of L2 cache and a Total Draw Power (TDP) of 65W. With a suggested retail price of $75.00 , the AMD A4-3400 APU operates at 2.7GHz and a 6000MHz (GPU) Radeon™ with 160 Cores, 1MD of  L2 cache and a Total Draw Power (TDP) of 65W.

All AMD A-Series processors are designed for use with FM1 motherboards. AMD A4 APU’s require Vision Engine Control Center 11.8 Drives or later.
