With the recent reveal of PlayStation 4, gamers are speculating when Microsoft will pull back the curtain on the next Xbox. Rumors suggest that we could see it as soon as April. Computer and Video Games noted the involvement of Ustechs, an event planner who has worked with Microsoft as recently as their 2012 E3 conference. The company recently registered the URL xboxevent.com, which suggests that we will see the new Xbox sooner rather than later. Nothing official points to April as when Microsoft plans to hold the event, but the timing makes sense. With E3 coming in June, that leaves plenty of time for gamers to mull over the details and build excitement. Essentially, holding an Xbox event in April would give Microsoft a chance to build strong momentum heading into E3, where the company traditionally holds a press conference first.
We can only speculate what the next Xbox will be capable of. Reports suggest that it will have strong Kinect functionality and specs comparable to what is in Sony’s PlayStation 4. Rumors suggest that there may be a system in place to prevent used games, something that Sony has denied for its PS4. Frankly, it’s all speculation. We don’t even know what Microsoft is planning to call it. One thing we do know, however, is that it will very probably be green.
