Indie Title Ironcast Slashes Mechs with English Charm

Ironcast

Ironcast from Ripstone Publishing and Dreadbit brings you all the charm of Victorian London that you can handle from your bipedal mech suit.

The dukes and duchesses at Ripstone and Dreadbit have announced that their period piece set around an alternate, pretty awesome sounding version of the 1880s will be coming to consoles early in March. PC, Mac, and Linux versions of the game have been available since almost a year ago, and have received mostly positive reviews on Steam over the period. The game itself sets your mech against the enemies of the British Empire via a matching puzzle as found in Puzzle Quest where you have to keep attack, defense, and other stats filled in order to survive your duel.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Ironcast are next on the docket with a lot of the lessons learned from the other three iterations coming along for the dueling. There are no details on what those promised changes entail, but Dreadbit is counting on their own Daniel Leaver, of Media Molecule Senior Designer fame, to lead them in console optimization. Players can expect a console trailer coming sometime soon.

Ironcast is due for tea on Xbox One on March 4 and PlayStation 4 on March 1 in America and March 2 in Europe. Check out the trailer for the PC version to grab yourself a wider view of the high-class festivities.

[toggle title=”Press Release”]Ironcast is set in an alternative Victorian history; where refined men and women commanded gigantic mechanised war machines, laying waste to enemies of the British Empire. As Commanders of the Consortium of Merit, players take control of their own 7 metre tall walking Ironcast. Gamers must face off against an invading force of enemy Ironcast in order to defend 1880’s Victorian England. Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast’s various weapons and systems. Players must choose how to spend these nodes wisely, either offensively in order to cripple and destroy their opponents, or defensively, if they suspect a barrage of incoming weapon fire is due. After the successful launch of Ironcast on PC, Mac and Linux in March 2015, the teams received overwhelmingly positive feedback and are excited to bring the game to PS4 & Xbox One, given both Dreadbit’s & Ripstone’s console backgrounds. Although Ironcast is Dreadbit’s debut title, the dev team are no strangers to AAA game development. The team’s Lead Designer and founder; Daniel Leaver was a Senior Designer on Media Molecule’s Tearaway and LittleBIGPlanet series before forming Dreadbit.[/toggle]
