Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Will Be a Digital Episodic Series

Following last week’s official announcement of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, it seems as though more information on Capcom’s upcoming survival horror title has surfaced this morning.

In addition to the exciting fact that the game will star none other than Claire Redfield as the lead protagonist, details have emerged via the game’s official Facebook page stating that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be a broken down into four weekly episodes. Gamers will be able to grab each episode for a mere $5.99 or they can opt to purchase the Complete Season Pass for $24.99. What’s more, Capcom expects to release a retail copy of the game with additional content once the digital series has concluded.

You can catch the concept teaser trailer for the game below, if you fancy.

According to Push-Start-Play, the story follows the gritty narrative of protagonist Claire Redfield and supporting character Moira Burton, Barry Burton’s daughter. Taking place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, the game also promises to return to its survival horror roots rather than sticking to action-oriented gameplay fans have unfortunately come to accept from the latest installments in the series. This is wonderful news for all the die-hard Resident Evil fans. With limited resources and a strong emphasis on puzzle-solving, players will finally feel immersed in the tense world of Resident Evil.

The only thing that remains a mystery here is whether or not key elements of the predecessor, Resident Evil: Revelations, will be returning in the sequel. Namely, the ability to switch between first- and third-person when aiming down the sights of your weapon, the awesome Genesis system that helped players detect hidden items, or even the strangely addictive Raid Mode.

For those of you who aren’t too familiar with Raid Mode, it was a cooperative mini-game that allowed up to two players to fight their way past hordes of enemies in order to retrieve a BSAA emblem at the end of the level. Raid Mode proved to effectively add to the game’s replay value so one can only hope that it will make its return in Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

The game’s main campaign will also be supporting both single player and two-player cooperative play, where Claire’s specialty lies in combat and Moira’s a supportive role. Tackling the campaign cooperatively with a friend seems to be a new feature that was not previously available in the original game.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is schedule to release within the early months of 2015 on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. Stayed tuned for more information!
