5 Games We Want From the PlayStation Media Showcase | E3 2017

Everyone go to his or her playlist and put on some Europe because we are now days away from E3. But before those doors open to the media, publishers, studios, and for the first time the public. The biggest names in gaming will grace us with their media showcase. Among them will be PlayStation. With several IPs to work with under their belt, we can expect a lot from them this year. As anticipation builds in the air, here are the games I’m hoping to see at Sony’s Playstation Media Showcase that haven’t been confirmed.

5 Games We Want From the PlayStation Media Showcase

Brand New IP/Strong Indie Lineup

You can always expect a new IP. So there will be no surprise when one shows up, but I hope this year it’s a new 3D adventure game. Not an open world since the industry pretty much has that covered. PlayStation grew up on 3D adventure games and RPGs, so it’s time to get back to basics. On the flip side of that coin. Hopefully, there will be a strong showing of great indie titles that we will be getting this year and not some arbitrary time in the future.

Shenmue 1 & 2 Remastered

There have been murmurs about this for a while, but they’ve been nothing more than few whispers. With Shenmue 3 fully backed on Kickstarter, and a fandom that refuses to die, it would excel as a show opener. We will get to relive the story that became a cult classic, or realistically just see what the hype is all about. Is driving a forklift really that epic? Either way, PlayStation will be missing out if they don’t open the show with this announcement.

Spider-Man PS4

It’s been a minute since we last heard about this project. Insomniac Games take on Spider-Man was last seen at the PS4 Pro event last September. Now would be a perfect time for it to take the spotlight once again. I’m hoping for a gameplay demo that embodies the quality that Insomniac Games is known for. With Marvel finally giving us the Spider-Man movie we deserve. It will be a godsend to see this title also get a 2017 release.

Kingdom Hearts 3

This one is a long shot, but I will stand up and clap if PlayStation comes through in the clutch and gives us some new Kingdom Hearts 3 footage. I’m not asking for actual gameplay. Any new footage will do at this point. We have been watching the same trailers since the first one dropped in 2013. Square Enix knows the world’s patience has grown thin, so it’s time to show up in a big way. Also if Kingdom Hearts 2.9, or any other nonsense, is revealed instead. I’m going to give into the darkness and lose my mind … and possibly my heart.

Another Classic Completely Remastered

Here is another one for the ‘wishful thinking’ list. Thanks to the excitement that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy caused. The idea of another classic getting remade is completely plausible. With so many IP’s to pick from PlayStation can’t go wrong. Spyro the Dragon, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Tomba!, and hell even Gex would make a great choice. Being remade and packaged with all the games in the series would almost be too good for words.

The PlayStation Media Showcase has a history of delivering an entertaining show, but 2017 is an all new year. I’m confident that this year’s show will be great too. As long as these listed games find their way into it. And For more coverage on PlayStation and all things E3 make sure to stay right with us.
