3D Gaming Now Possible on Toshiba Glasses-Free 3D Laptop

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced Optimized for NVIDIA®GeForce® 3D support for the groundbreaking Qosmio® F755 3D, enabling users to experience glasses-free 3D gaming1 for the first time ever on a laptop. The update is currently available for download via Toshiba’s Service Station utility.

“We have been working closely with NVIDIA to bring 3D gaming capabilities to the Qosmio F755, a killer feature that has yet to be realized in the PC industry,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “Now gamers can experience hundreds of PC games in stunning 3D without the burden of wearing 3D glasses. This update brings a new level of play to 3D PC gaming.”

A Breakthrough in Consumer 3D Technology

To achieve a 3D viewpoint without the aid of special glasses, the award-winning Qosmio F755 3D laptop uses auto-stereoscopic display technology. Equipped with a brilliant 15.6-inch diagonal 1080p Full HD TruBrite® display2 with Active Lens technology, the double parallax image display is able to project two sets of images at the same time, splitting them between the left and right eyes to create the 3D effect. Toshiba’s intuitive Face Tracking technology then taps into the laptop’s built-in webcam to further perfect the projection of the image by reacting to the motion and position of the viewer, delivering a broad viewing zone from which to view 3D content. The end result for consumers is the ability to view and enjoy real 3D – no glasses needed.

High-Performance Components and Premium Entertainment Features

In addition to its 3D capabilities, the Qosmio F755 3D is equipped with the latest in processor technology and premium components. Powered by the visibly smart Intel® Core™ i5 or Core i7 processor3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR3 graphics memory4, as well as up to 8GB RAM5 and a spacious 750GB hard drive6, the Qosmio F755 3D laptop is built to deliver robust multimedia performance. Built-in harman/kardon® speakers, a suite of sound enhancement technologies from Dolby® and Waves Audio deliver booming cinematic sound to movies, music and games. An integrated Blu-ray Disc™ rewriteable drive7 (on select models) offers record and play capabilities, while an HDMI® 1.4 port supports output of video (up to 1080p) to a 3D-ready TV or display. An elegant Fusion 3D Finish in Brilliant Red delivers standout styling.
