Microsoft Announces Xbox One Release Date

Microsoft announced early this morning that the Xbox One will be available in 13 countries on November 22, one week after the launch of the PlayStation 4. All of these countries will able to get the Xbox One on launch day: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, UK, and of course, the USA.

Yusuf Mehdi, the executive in charge of Xbox Marketing, has confirmed that a number of Xbox One Day One Editions have been made available for preorder. If you are in the UK and still looking to score a free copy of FIFA 14, you can.

So here is what we know so far: the Xbox One will be launching with 23 “day one” titles, and 6 other confirmed “launch window” titles, meaning they can launch anytime between November 22nd and the end of March. The PS4 is launching November 15th with 27 “day one” titles and 20 “launch window” titles. The Xbox One will be $599 at launch, and will come with a controller, headset, and Kinect. The PS4 is $399 and will come with a controller and headset. The PlayStation Camera will be available separately for $59.

Interestingly, November 22 is the same day the Xbox 360 launched in 2005. Meanwhile, PlayStation 4 is launching in the U.S a week before the Xbox One, but also a week after the Xbox One overseas.
