PSA: Xbox One October Update Now Live

Microsoft has rolled out the October Xbox One update and it is now currently available for download. This months update centers around several changes to the Snap feature. Now Snap Center includes quick access to Friends, Messages, Game DVR, clock, Achievements and battery indicator. You can now bring up the Snap Menu by double tapping the Xbox button that allows you to open a new app or close a currently snapped app, as well as switch focus between your game and snapped app.

Two apps have also been optimized to work with snap mode. The Friends Snap App now allows you to quickly check which of your friends are online as well message, invite, or join them, and the Message app now lets you open, read, and respond to messages without ever having to leave your game. The Achievement App has also been updated so that you may share you success with your friends and so you achievement hunters can compare yourself to your buddies.

This months update also adds a new feature that will help you find your Xbox One controller when you lose it by making your controller vibrate (because let’s be honest, your next-gen console controllers are so cheap you just throw them places when your done using them right?..). There are also a couple changes to the OneGuide, you can now add Internet TV apps, and there is now a Live TV Miniguide which displays details about the show your currently watching. The OneGuide is also now available in 11 new countries for those of you that don’t have it.

As with every monthly update there are also a ton of small tweaks and fixes, and you can find the full list of them over at the Xbox Wire. It’s refreshingly to know that Microsoft seems intent on constantly updating and tweaking the Xbox One with new features every month.
