XBLA Sales Up 11% In April

According to a report released by FADE (Forcasting and Analyzing Digital Entertainment, LLC), the market for Xbox Live Arcade games was up 11% in April compared to the same month a year before.

Claims of weak showings in the first two months of 2010 have caused growth to stagnate to only 7% since the year began.April saw $7.6 million in revenue for the Xbox 360’s digital marketplace, which is a new record for the month. From January through April, revenue is standing respectably at $33.8 million.

Toy Soldiers, the World War I diorama tower defense game from Signal Games held the top spot in April even while sales dropped 74% from March, still managing to move 53,000 sales. Capcom’s Mega Man 10 debuted with 37,000 sold, securing the fifth spot. Capcom’s other April release, Final Fight: Double Impact, also secured a top-ten spot with 32,000 sold, while previously released Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 appears right below.

In an effort to combat historically bad revenue in the second quarter, Microsoft  changed their lineup and price strategy. The success of their “Inventory Blowout” sale and price reductions grossed half a million dollars for April. Most titles saw 2-400% sales increases.
