A Taiwanese-based company In Technology Group wants to make sure that smartphone users can experience all the features available in Microsoft’s newest operating system Windows 8. This is not the first time that they have experimented with this idea. They started doing this with phones running Windows XP last November, and by earlier this year, ITG’s XPPhone was available with Windows 7. The company now has plans to release a slimmer, lighter, and more energy efficient XPPhone 2 that will run both Windows 7 and Windows 8 obviously the latter OS will depend on its final release date.
ITG wants to market this device as much more then a phone, they are calling it the “smallest notebook PC in the world,” and they have the specs to back it up sort of. The phone comes in measuring at 140mm X 73mm X 17.5mm. It will feature a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 chip, along with 2GB RAM, up to 112GB of SSD storage, and a 4.3-inch display. ITG expects to begin shipping the phone as early as January. Enjoy a picture gallery of the phone provided by Engadget.
