Windows 10 and Other Features Coming to Xbox One

Xbox One fans rejoice for Microsoft has just announced at Gamescom that the Xbox One will be getting a series of new features added in November.

The first of these features is the new interface for Xbox One that will be designed specifically for Microsoft’s new Operating System, Windows 10. This new interface will include Cortana support which will allow you to contact friends and invited them to your game without interrupting your current game session,  in addition to an array of features and a slick more responsive interface (especially since Windows 10 has been quite the success).

Another feature that will be added in the November update is the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. For now, it is only a small list of games, but it is sure to grow as time progresses. This backwards compatibility will be working similar to the original Xbox 360‘s, when at first it supported a small list of Xbox games on the system.

In addition to these software features, a new hardware addon will be coming to Xbox in late October or early November. This new addon is the Chatpad accessory, which will essentially add a small keyboard to the bottom of your controller to be able to chat to your friends faster or enter codes and passwords quicker. Perhaps not the most exciting of accessories but certainly a useful utility nontheless.

Lastly, Microsoft teased the addition of some DVR functionalities to the Xbox such as being able to pause and rewind live TV for up to 30 minutes and they also released a USB TV tuner for European Xboxes that will soon be coming to the USA. Perhaps the DVR restictions will soon be unlocked to work as a full DVR and be able to rewind and pause live TV without any limits. they have in fact, announced that they will be adding full DVR features for Free-to-Air TV with the release of the USB TV tuners in USA and Europe. This feature will probably be available around late 2016. This, however won’t affect any of the gaming experiences on the box, but might make it the ideal all-in-one console.
