Welcome to Press Start (What We Played)! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have played during this past week. What did you game?
Darrin: Trying to clear my “pile of shame” in time for Tomb Raider, which means I’ve been playing Sonic Generations (PC), Just Cause 2 (PC), Borderlands 2 (PS3), and Dishonored (PS3) all at once. Eclectic mix, and I’ve still yet to start Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Crysis. Dang.
Herny: I’ve been traveling a lot this week so I’ve had my Vita near and dear. I feel that Little Big Planet Vita is the definitive version of this franchise and its been great to actually sit and have some prolonged quality time with it. I’ll switch over to Gravity Rush for the longer periods of time so I can sink into a fun character and interesting story, and then All-Stars Battle Royale for the second platinum and strategic beatings. Long live, Sir Dan!
Jeff: After reviewing Metal Gear Rising last week, I found all the motivation I needed to go through the HD versions of both PS2 games. I think I have MGS2 memorized, and MGS3 is still one of the best games of the last ten years. I made a little more progress in Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, grabbing more characters and minikits. I don’t usually go for everything, but I can’t get tired of Traveller’s Tales’ formula.
Jen: On the road to 50 with my Sith in SWTOR. I thought I would be able to reach that point this week, but I wasn’t able to. Played a little bit of Forza Horizon, Bejeweled Blitz, Bejeweled 3 and very briefly, Flower.
Ben: I checked out the demo for the new God of War. I’ve never been much of a fan of the series but this one felt pretty good, if mostly the same. If you liked the others you will like this one, I just still prefer Bayonetta style hack ‘n slash games to the GoW series style. Then, almost 13 years late, I beat Final Fantasy 9. That was a really good game. It’s story and characters were very well done. Great ending too, even if some of it did get confusing and odd. Also, I’m pretty sure the final boss quoted Yoda.
Arnell: I just beat BIT.TRIP Presents…Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (WiiU). It’s such a solid game with great controls. I recommend this to anyone. It’s a great combination of fun and frustration, ha. I’ve always been interested in the Bit.Trip series and only tried demos, but this game has sold me. I might go back and get Bit.Trip Complete. Great work, Gaijin Games.
