Welcome to Press Start (What We Played)! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have played during this past week. What did you game?
Enis: I’ve had a lot of time to sit back and play Mass Effect 3 again. Since the new DLC I’ve gotten back into the multiplayer since the release of new characters. The only character I really want to play as is the Krogan Warlord only because of the Electric Hammer you get. Dat Hammer! I’ve also been grinding away at Halo 4 War Games to get my Capture the Flag Victory – Master Commendation complete to get the Vanguard armor. It’s a grind.
Greg: Tomb Raider. Really, really loved it. An all around fantastic game, very polished. Never had interest in the series before, but I couldn’t put this game down. Exceeded my expectations. Also played the Citadel DLC for ME3. So good. so so good. A perfect send off for the series. Although, I’ve got the Mass Effect itch again, so another Trilogy run will probably be in the very near future. Until Bioshock comes out, that is…
Luis: Due to finals, I’ve had to scratch my gaming itch by playing iOS games between classes and homework assignments. I recently downloaded Sonic Dash. If you even remotely enjoyed Temple Run, chances are you’ll like Sonic Dash even more. It’s got Power-Ups, Pick-Ups, and you can run as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy for crying out loud. Surprisingly, it’s also my favorite Sonic title in a very long time. I’ve also been getting some more high speed action with Real Racing 3, which is another great iOS game, and its free! The graphics also look better than a lot of PSP games and even some 3DS tiles. Kingdom Rush is the third title that kept me company this past week. It’s an excellently well crafted RTS title on iOS that has a deep amount of customization. If you’ve been on the fence about it and love a good RTS title, download it for iPhone.
Chris: Bought a PS Vita to try for a work trip to fire fighting school and fell in love with the system. Downloaded the PSOne Classic Final Fantasy Tactics, which is one of my favorite games made. Addicted to making my characters boss and it is a great story. This game is a defining example of a quality strategy RPG even 10 plus years after it’s original release.
Ben: Beat Tomb Raider and it was super super good. I’ve never played a Tomb Raider game before so I can’t really compare it but this was basically a perfect stuck on an island survival game. It’s what I always wanted Uncharted to be. Great set pieces and slick combat paired with fun exploration and treasure hunting made for a great time. It is the current game of the year to beat. But Bioshock comes out in a week so that will probably change very soon. Speaking of Bioshock, I now have a week of nothing to play while I wait so I’ll have to figure something out.
Jeff: I picked up the Jak & Daxter HD Collection over the weekend, and I’m happy to finally be able to fill in those gaps in my gaming history. Also, Resident Evil 5 co-op is still tons of fun, even locked into Sheva’s weird opposite shoulder thing.
Jen: It was double exp in SWTOR this weekend! I got my Sith to level 50 but then died several times on a boss. Got frustrated and moved on to my Sith Inquisitioner. Got her up a few levels and I also played as my Trooper with my husband and got some levels as well. I want to finish the main story arc with my Sith before Bioshock Infinite drops. I got the final achievements for The Citadel DLC in Mass Effect 3, which brings me back to 100%. Now I’m planning on throwing the party all over again!
