What We Played During Week 18

Welcome to Press Start (What We Played)! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have played during this past week. What did you game?

Arnell: Downloaded (at a discounted price), played, and beat the original Mega Man on the Wii U VC. In my opinion, it’s the toughest of the 10 classic Mega Man games.

Joel: After a straight week of no games (vacation), I returned to my playthrough of Dead Island Riptide. Before I finish my review I am doing my best to test out every feature of the game, been fun so far

Enis: This week I haven’t had much time for gaming again. I put in only a few hours of Defiance though. The new patch released helped with some of the issues but Trion is doing a great job with the game this far.

Jeff: I didn’t have much time this week to game, but a few bot matches in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 kept my PS3 warm during this cold front.

William: Playing Pandora’s Tower. It’s actually has more than one similarity with The Legend of Zelda games, as well as a dash of Shadow of the Colossus. Not that it’s actually as good as either of those two, but it’s way better than I thought it was going to be.

Jen: I’ve been writing more than playing video games this week but I still managed to get some game time in with SWTOR and Star Trek. While waiting for Iron Man 3 to start, I played some New Super Mario Bros. 2 and got my work out with In the Groove. Ended the week playing a little bit of Rock Band 3.

Ben: Well I’m the proud owner of a new shiny Vita and have been thoroughly enjoying it. The device is damn fine. I’ve been playing a lot of Persona 4 Golden and it’s a superb jrpg. I wish someone had told me it was like a slice-of-life anime wrapped up with a murder investigation because I would have played it a lot sooner. And for something completely different, I I’ve been hunting dragons that shoot lasers in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The original game was great and this new setting is even better. This is what every piece of DLC should be: the same great mechanics altered slightly then placed in a new environment and scenario that has nothing to do with the main game. I want to see a lot more games doing stuff like this. For example: Assassin’s Creed in a cyberpunk future or Dishonored in the vampire infested castles of the medieval ages. The list goes on and on and it’s all pretty freaking cool. Anyway, Blood Dragon is great, go buy it.
