What We Played December 3 – 9

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Darrin: Mass Effect 1 for PS3. So good to finally get the start of Commander Shepard’s story to go with the two sequels. Also spending time with WWE 13, and loving the nostalgia that the Attitude Era mode brings.

Jen: Finally got my NES working…for about three minutes. Managed to deliver a few papers in Paperboy. I really want to get my NES working for more than a few minutes. Helped my husband to finish Halo 4 on co-op Heroic, giving both of us a few extra achievements. Played a little bit with online multiplayer, was a bit meh at first and then I started to get into the groove. I get way too frustrated when I play any Halo game. Forza Horizon got more attention this week and I am happy to say that I am loving it! Working on playing all the songs in Rock Bad Blitz, which is hard because the songs that are left over, I loath. Bejeweled 3, once again my bedtime story game. I believe I have two achievements left to get in that XBLA title. Finally got off of Hoth in SWTOR. It wasn’t that bad my fourth time around, but I really don’t like Hoth. Too cold. This was with my Jedi Shadow, who also reached level 40 on Saturday. My poor Smuggler, who is close to 50 and finishing up her story arc, keeps getting neglected.

Jeff: Most of my gaming this week has been away from the consoles. I’m enjoying Angry Birds Seasons’ Christmas countdown, and tapped away a few blocks in Curiosity. Other than that, I’ve found Uncharted 3‘s multiplayer is some of the most fun I’ve ever had online. It’s over a year old, and I’m using the original maps, but no one has mastered it the way people do with something like Call of Duty. It’s fair, fun, and still rewarding. I’ll definitely put time into this one.

Joel: Well since my PS3 is out of commission I am back into Star Wars The Old Republic playing as a trooper, which is insanely fun. I am also spending some much needed quality time with my PS Vita playing Gravity Rush and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. I am also play testing my friends MMOFPS which he is currently developing and learning a great deal about the game development process.

Jake: Been toying around with FarCry 3 and ZombiU. Been also picking up games to add back to my collection that I’ve traded in. Hello random old 360 games: PGR3, PGR4, Guitar Hero 2.

Ben: Played a lot of Guild Wars 2 for really no reason at all. It’s a fun game but didn’t really have enough to hook me in for more than a few days. Finished up Dishonored and really enjoyed the stealthiness  Also, the final parts of the game were really excellent. Although, I don’t think I would have liked it as much if I hadn’t been as sneaky in my playthrough. Finally I started playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown and I really like it. I’ve needed a strategy game and this one fits perfectly.
