This Week In Games: One Last Holiday Push

Okay, breathe everyone. Breathe. It’s time for the last big push of the holiday season.

Assassin’s Creed: Revealations (Xbox 360, Ps3) Goodbye, Ezio. For my money, you won’t be missed. Ubisoft is ending Ezio’s story and revealing (pun not intended) the link between Ezio, Altair, and Desmond…or so we think. We could easily get another left turn from Ubisoft, which wouldn’t be a shock for this franchise.

Super Mario 3D Land (3DS) What’s that? A reason to turn on your 3DS? Say it ain’t so! Nintendo’s flagship franchise is here to show us just what the 3DS is capable of.

Need For Speed: The Run (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS) Need for Speed returns to its roots as a street racer, after Criterion took a turn last year with Hot Pursuit. It then completely leaves those roots behind as your driver is actually able to leave your car and run from point A to point B. The game also features an actual linear narrative plot. How it will shape the future of the street racing genre remains to be seen, but if this can be done well, then The Run ought to be one of the biggest surprises of the year.

Saints Row The Third (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) You get to wield a purple dildo. Yeah, that about covers it.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Xbox 360, PS3) The ultimate edition of the critically acclaimed fighting title, now featuring new characters, including Frank West. He’s covered wars, ya know.
