Warner Bros. Seeks To Lift Australian Ban On Mortal Kombat

Round 1 Fight!

Warner Bros.  is soon to be submitting last year’s Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition to the Australian Classification Board for approval due to it’s recent rating of R18+. It’s a move in the right direction to fight the ban that took 18 years to put into effect.

Due to the games explicit violence and more (I guess they really don’t like the fatalities) it received it’s ban in 2011 from the board. Even with the MA15+ guidelines weren’t enough to give Mortal Kombat , but the R18+ rating, which was introduced in June, might be. Even meanwhile, games like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for the Wii U will be the first to receive a new rating in Australia.

The boards classification of games fell into place with Mortal Kombat arcade game being the deciding factor into actually establishing this classification system.  I blame Scorpion.
