There are many people who did not like 2016, but when it came to video games, there were many positives that made that year a bit more enjoyable. Chances are those games were a part of the Steam Top 100.
Valve has published their list of Steam Top 100 best-selling games of 2016, but they did not stop there. The majority of the games included in the lists are on sale, so if you have been thinking about trying out some new games this is your chance. It’s also a great way to start off the New Year and take care of any gaming New Year Resolutions you’ve made.
The Steam list has been measured by gross revenue brought in, according to Valve. They have also divided the 100 games into four separate tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Valve has not disclosed how it selected each game to be part of a tier or whether or not the game in each tier are listed based on their gross revenue.
An example of games from the Platinum tier include Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, The Division, Dark Souls 3, Rocket League, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Gold tier includes Doom, Ark, Stardew Valley, and Warframe.
Rust, Payday 2, Far Cry Primal and Watchdogs 2 are some of the games that are in the Silver tier and The Steam Controller, Life is Strange Episode 1, Undertale, and Firewatch are in the Bronze tier.
