Ah, new year, new games.
With 2016 in full swing, we round up a list of upcoming video games that will be released in January. Now, January is typically a slow month for gaming, and while we won’t be deciding between multiple AAA titles there are some highly anticipated titles coming out next month.

January 12th
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India (PC, PS4, XB1) – January 12th
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles continues the franchise as a side-scrolling platformer. This chapter of the chronicles takes place in 1841 India, when the Sikh Empire was at war against the East India Company.
Gemini: Heroes Reborn (PC, Mac, PS4, XB1)
Based off of the TV show Heroes Reborn, play as Cassandra, an evo with multiple powers, such as telekinetic powers and the ability to travel through time.
Gone Home (PS4, XB1)
The critically-acclaimed “interactive exploration simulator” is finally coming to console! In Gone Home, you attempt to solve the mystery of a missing family as you wander through their empty house.
Tharsis (PC, PS4)
After the first successful landing on Mars, your crew falls victim to a micrometeoroid storm. With the right strategy (and luck), you must get your crew past the perils of space, all while dealing with fading sanity, cannibalistic hunger, and the great unknown.
That Dragon, Cancer (PC, Mac, Ouya)
This adventure game is a dedication to those who have to deal with the realest and gravest of enemies. In this game, you are the father of a child that has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. You must make a number of difficult decisions to care for your child while cherishing each possible moment.
The Banner Saga (PS4, XB1)
The Banner Saga is a Viking-flavored, turn-based RPG. Lead your caravan of warriors against the despicable Dredge in a Sleeping Beauty-styled world backed by Journey composer, Austin Wintory.
January 15th
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PC)
Dragon’s Dogma finally makes its way to PC! This version of the dark fantasy game will come with all previously-released DLC and higer-quality textures, supporting 4k and 60fps!
Oxenfree (PC, XB1)
Former Telltale Games and Disney Studio developers team up for this supernatural game about teens on an island as things take a turn for the weird and the worst.
January 16th
Zheros (XB1)
ZHEROS is a sci-fi 3D brawler that pits you against Dr. Vendetta’s evil robot horde. Play as one or two agents to save the world through fists and firepower.
January 19th
Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemist of Dusk Sky (Vita)
This enhanced port is the 15th game in the “Atelier” series. In this version, you can witness the story from two different points of view, backed by new playable characters, enemies, and story arcs.
Blade & Soul (PC)
Blade & Soul is a MMORPG set in a fantastical Korean setting. While the game has been around since 2012, it is finally coming to the West.
Darkest Dungeon (PC, Mac, Lin, PS4, Vita)
Darkest Dungeon is an indie rougelike that gifts players a gothic mansion that they must traverse through while vanquishing all enemies to stake their claim. Players must gather a band of dungeon-crawling heroes to deal with the real-time movement and turn-based combat.
Deadly Tower of Monsters (PC, PS4)
What happens when a 1970’s sci-fi B-movie is made into a video game? Find out here! Ascend The Deadly Tower OF Monsters with a wide array of weapons against a slew of enemies. Play as the daring spaceman, the “distressed damsel,” or the friendly robot sidekick against the evil Emporer.
Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster (PC, PS3, PS4, X360, XB1)
Go back to the beginning with the Resident Evil Origins Collection, which includes a remaster of both Resident Evil 0 and the original Resident Evil.
Stardust Vanguards
Battle against your friends in the mech-based, local multiplayer-focused Stardust Vanguards. Play with up to 4 friends in a dueling arena straight out of an anime!
January 20th
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (PC)
Deserts of Kharak is a prequel to the original 1999 PC game Homeworld. Following its predecessor’s footsteps, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is a spaced-based RTS made by members of the original franchise.
January 21st
Hyrule Warriors Legends (3DS)
It’s Dynasty Warriors meets Legend of Zelda! Hyrule Warriors goes portable by way of the 3D with new additions, such as more playable characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
January 22nd
Death By Game Show (PC, Mac, Linux)
Death by Game Show is a love letter to Idiocracy in the form of a RTS tower defense game where the humor and horror of humanity collide.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (3DS)
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam is the crossover of the Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario series you didn’t know you wanted. With both Mario titles on their 5th entry, 3D meets 2D on Nintendo’s handheld.
January 26th
Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS)
Square Enix’s newest action RPG takes the quest-based structure of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and applies the job system from classic Final Fantasy titles. Play online, locally, or solo against monsters from the historic JRPG franchise.
Lego Marvel’s Avengers (PC, X360, XB1, PS3, PS4, Vita, WiiU, 3DS)
Two of the biggest toy companies meet in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. In this game, you get to experience major moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the from of LEGOs.
Nitro+ Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel (PS4)
Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroine Infinitie Duel is a 2D fighting game that features the most popular girls of Nitroplus, a Japanese novel publisher. Pit popular anime characters against one another in a technical, yet speedy conflict.
The Witness (PC, iOS, PS4)
The Witness is Jonathan Blow’s newest game. It is a mysterious “exploration-puzzle” game where you unlock the secrets of a deserted island.
January 27th
Shadow of the Beast (PS3)
Shadow of the Beast is a hyper-violent re-imagining of its Commadore Amiga counterpart from 25 years past. Developers who were involved in the making of Need For Speed, Star Fox, Battlefield, and the Sims retells the story of a man who became a monster.
Slain! (PC)
Slain! is a gothic throwback to the hack and slash games of the ‘80s and ‘90s.’ Defeat 7 overlords in this puzzle-combat platformer in the goriest way possible.
January 28th
Dragon Quest Builders (PS3, PS4, Vita)
Set in world of Alefgard, the original world of Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest Builders takes the gathering building mechanics of Mindcraft with eht elook and charm of the classic franchise. Play as the savior, who is must rebuild the world the evil Dragonlord destroyed block by block.
Imscared – A Pixelated Nightmare (PC, MAC, Linux)
This retro indie horror game will keep you on the edge until you see the last square.
January 29th
Bombshell (PC)
Bombshell is an isometric action shooter that stars a Global Defense Force agent that seeks revenge for her fallen comrades and missing arm.
Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo (PC, PS4, XB1)
Named after the nine-time World Rally Champion, Sébastian Loeb Rally Evo lets you race against one of the greatest rally racers of all time on the hardest racing tracks around the world.
This War of Mine: The Little Ones (PS4, XB1)
This War of Mine: The Little Ones brings the highly-praised title to consoles with a “little” twist. This version of the game comes with brand new content that tells the story from the childrens’ point of view.
