Upcoming Games October 2017

Upcoming Games October 2017

October has already started and we are looking to a pretty staffed month, full of triple-A hitters for all tastes. We have prepared for you a list of upcoming games that we believe should be on your radar, one reason or the other. Off we go!

Forza Motorsport 7

Forza Motorsport 7

Platforms: PC, Xbox One
Release Date: October 3

We start off the month with the next installment in the Forza series. Motorsport 7 will delight all racing fans with more than 700 cars and 200 configurations to dart across the asphalt. There will be 32 locations at launch, some of them clear winks and adaptations from famous maps of Forza 4 and Forz6. Among the new features, you can find dynamic weather and customizable drivers.

A Hat in Time

A hat in time

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 5

Inspired by the likes of classic Nintendo 64’s platformers, such as Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, comes A Hat in Time. In this title, we follow the steps of a tiny Hat Girl tasked with a quite unyielding mission: to stop Time from breaking. The way you do this is by collecting “timepieces” on the surface of a mysterious planet, through different adventures and levels.

A Hat in Time may have originated with a Kickstarter and be quite unknown but it’s coming to a very good harbor in the end. Overall, a quite original proposal if you are into platforming journeys.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 10

Shadow of War received a very painful delay around June this year. Monolith needed a little more time to polish up this highly-awaited sequel. With all things considered, after delving into all the fresh announcements and new trailers, we can say that the game is showing off to be a worthy revamp of the Middle-earth series.

Shadow of War is said to take their award-winning Nemesis system, bringing it then to the next level. As you traverse through the Middle-earth, all your friends and rivals will never stop changing. Loyalty and betrayal will be as ambiguous as the array of personalities and essences of the Orcs around you. All of that topped with a heavy, Tolkien-inspired narrative that happens between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

The Evil Within 2

The Evil Within 2

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 13

Directly from the perverse minds at Tango Gameworks comes The Evil Within 2, an interesting addition to the survival horror genre. In this sequel, we take the role of detective Sebastian Castellanos once again – albeit, with a very different shape. Alone, very close to the bottle, and completely dismissed by his peers, Castellanos receives one day a quite unsettling revelation that sets him moving anew.

Like its predecessor, The Evil Within 2 plunges a third-person view into an unsettling world full of darkness and weird creatures. Its producer, Shinji Mikami, has himself a very close relationship with the Resident Evil series – and you can certainly tell.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 17

The Fractured But Hole is probably the most amusing title of the month, and definitely a must-buy if you are into the original game. This sequel follows the story of The Stick of Truth but its RPG basics have changed a bit. For instance, on top of twelve superhero classes, we can now choose the gender and the race of our character. While this is not meant to be a game changer, it will surely spice up the upcoming social interactions, and make this adventure all the more personal.

Fire Emblem Warriors

Fire Emblem Warriors

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: October 20

Fire Emblem Warriors is the hack-and-slash RPG proposition of the month. The game is a collaboration between two big ones: the Dynasty Warriors franchise from Koei Tecmo and Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem series. Original characters Rowan and Lianna will cross paths with others from Fire Emblem, plunging the player into a chaotic world full of action-powered encounters.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Assassin's Creed: Origins

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 27

There was a time when Ubisoft entered a development frenzy and began producing one Assassin’s Creed title per year. A much-needed stop followed then, where the big studio measured and pondered over their shortcomings and the next direction to take. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is the result of all that self-reflection. Moreover, it’s meant to be a worthy successor.

As its name points out, the next adventure takes us to the past, all the way back to the conflict between the Assassins and the forerunners to the Templars. Soon we’ll get to experience the new Egyptian setting, an expanding world, and revised combat mechanics.

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey

Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Release Date: October 27

Nintendo is surfing the wave these days and Super Mario Odyssey comes ready to hold Mario’s legacy on their new console. Everything we have seen about this game speaks of an inviting blend between a natural classic and new flavors.

On top of your typical rambling around, jumping, smashing and pipe sliding, Mario can now possess enemies, dress up and blend with the environment. You have Bowser chasing again after Peach, a great variety of maps, and hours and hours of catchy melodies. What else could you ask for?

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: October 27

Last but not least, we close our list with another highly anticipated sequel. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus continues the story of its predecessor, The New Order, and plunges us again into a dystopian world governed by Nazis. It may be slower than your average shooter, but The New Colossus should be part of your gaming menu nevertheless.

If you want to read more, head over to Forbes Jones’ hands-on feature, where he goes over his experience with the upcoming sequel.

How is that month of October looking for you, Fanatics? Are you looking forward to any particular title from this list? Will you be playing some other games? Let the conversation begin in the comment section down below!
