Touch my Shinobido – Namco Shows off New PS Vita Content

Namco Bandai have dropped some new media for two of their upcoming PS Vita launch titles- Touch my Katamari and Shinobido 2: Revenge of the Zen.

The latest trailer for Touch my Katamari gives players an insight into the life of ‘Goro the Slacker’ – a hardcore gamer and internet addict who realizes that he, much like the King of All Cosmos, must fix his sloth-like ways in order to piece his woeful life back together.

Existential crises aside, the game boasts a selection of unique control methods that look to take advantage of Vita’s multi-input design. Players can combine analogue stick twists with front and rear touch controls to make their Katamari ball grow, stretch and even shrink; thus making it resemble a giant rolling pancake. It’s an odd, yet ingenious concept which seems like a perfect fit for the Vita.

In contrast, Shinobido 2 contains less cosmic ball rolling and more deadly ninja killing . Players take the role of Zen, a master assassin fighting his way through a tale of betrayal and intrigue. The game seems to be placing an emphasis on silent kills and brutal executions, therefore evoking inevitable comparisons to Playstation classic Tenchu, which isn’t surprising considering both games are developed by the same company- Acquire Corp. Unlike Tenchu however, Shinobido uses a “post-battle impact” system where relationships with various factions can be forged or severed based on in-game actions.

Check out the game’s stealth-assassin style in the trailer below.

Both titles are scheduled to release on the 22nd of February in line with the North American PS Vita launch.
