The Surge Announced by Lords of the Fallen Developer

The Surge

Gamescom is right around the corner, but Deck13, makers of Lords of the Fallen, can’t wait any longer to reveal The Surge as their next game.

Lords of the Fallen developer Deck13 Interactive has announced their new action RPG game. Publisher Focus Home’s newsletter, via Polygon, has some more information on their newly announced title.

“The title is a visceral hardcore RPG with innovative new combat mechanics and the first details on the game will only be presented during pre-booked behind closed door interviews,” Focus Home’s newsletter said.

See ya later crumbling castles!

Gamescom will give this new title the spotlight, but not to the public just yet. A closed-door demo is scheduled for members of the press to experience and spread the word accordingly. As stated on Deck13 Interactive’s website, The Surge will be set in a dystopian sic-fi future, which is quite the departure from the castles and draw bridges found within Lords of the Fallen.

“This new IP will feature innovative combat mechanics and an original character progression system based on modular upgrades gained through tight, visceral combat,” the developer wrote on their website.

The developer has released some art based on the game, which you can see below:

This news comes shortly after the rumor that Lords of the Fallen 2 was also under development by Deck13 was refuted by publisher CI Games. Lords of the Fallen 2 is now coming from a chain of development studios with Deck13 assuming a very reduced roll for reasons that are “confidential”.

The Surge will be making its debut in Gamescom on August 5, so expect new details to emerge around then. It is currently scheduled for a 2017 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
