The Hype Machine: Uncharted Edition

As I take a look back on my gaming history, I notice [now] how much of a PlayStation fan-girl I was… Granted, I had the original Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems, but once PlayStation hit the scene I was intrigued and obsessed. I spent the majority of my time trying to keep Crash alive, saving imaginary worlds from Neo Cortex and his “minions,” and that’s when I realized something… something big. Something that would probably keep me gaming for a long time… This was the moment that I realized I was in love with Naughty Dog.

It is now 15 years later, and I still get the same feelings [that] I did back then when playing Crash Bandicoot; that fear when I know I’m in danger, the rush and triumph after beating a boss… it’s the exact feeling I once had, sitting in front of the TV in my “one-sie” and eating popcorn at the age of 7. And you know what the best part about all of this is? Naughty Dog has done nothing but improve, without selling themselves short of… well, just about anything.

For a lot of people, 2011 seems like “the year of the game.” Not only because new games are being released, but even newer installments to certain “superior” series’ are also making their debut. It’s an exciting time for any gamer, but what am I most excited for? All my anticipation and excitement is going towards Naughty Dog’s third installment of the “Uncharted” series, Drake’s Deception.

Uncharted is a complete thrill-ride with lifelike characters, perfected graphics, unbelievable twists and turns, flawless cut-scenes… I don’t mean to sound cliché here, but it’s a total “eye-gasm.” Everything [besides the zombie-like descendants and cintamani stone guardians… don’t be alarmed!] is very realistic, giving you the ultimate video game experience, making you feel like you’re playing a part in some sort of interactive movie, determining Nathan Drake’s fate… or at least that’s how I felt.

With all the latest news and video footage being released last week, how can you not get excited for this game? Between the advanced multiplayer experience and Nathan Drake’s newest “hot and sandy” adventure, November really cannot come soon enough. Step into the hype machine my friends; with about 7 months to go, the wait is worth the wild ride. If you’re a PlayStation + member or an Infamous 2 buyer, don’t forget to check out the Multiplayer Beta coming June 28th! But if you’re neither, don’t sweat it; the beta will be available to you on July 5th. Mark your calendars, pencil it in, and don’t forget… game junkies unite!
