Born and raised in LA County, Luis is a Los Angeles native. He’s been a writer for TGF for nearly a year. Back in February 2012, he was lucky enough to be snatched up to be a writer for an awesome community of versatile and unique gamers. Primarily, Luis spends his time working towards a career in the video game industry. He’s attending classes at The Art Institute of California – Hollywood working towards a degree in Game Art and Design. Aside from playing video games regularly, he likes to get out of the house and experience LA by trying different food, concert venues, or just taking the subway to a random part of the city. Music is usually always playing alongside him and he attends a lot of concerts.

How did you become interested in online journalism and what attracted you to The Game Fanatics?

Every aspect of video games has always interested me. I actually got picked up to write for the site by Charles over Tumblr. I reblogged the TGF logo shirt with a comment about the older logo with the PS3 controller and he told me to apply for the site.

What’s been your favorite moment in gaming?

Geez. My favorite moment in gaming. That’s hard to decide. If we’re talking solely about playing them, then I’d have to say The inFamous series, and more specifically, inFamous 2. But related to games, my favorite moment would have to be the first video game prototype I created of my own titled ‘Hammered’.

Do you have goals that tie in with being apart of The Game Fanatics and/or the gaming community?

Going back to the previous answer, I actually developed my prototype in school for a Game Prototyping class. I’m attending classes at The Art Institute-Hollywood as a Game Art and Design major. Hopefully some day soon I’ll be creating games that will get reviewed by the site!

What is the first console you ever purchased or had gifted? What was the game you played and what were your earliest memories?

It was a Sega Genesis. I’ve forgotten the name of the game since it was so long ago, but it was actually two of them. The first I remember was a 2D fighter with the Power Rangers. It was actually quite fun. The second game was an X-Men side 2D Side Scroller that could have two people playing at a time. I can remember spending countless hours with my brother playing that X-Men game.

What inspires your writing style?

I’m not sure if I have a particular writing style that comes through in journalism, but I might have one that I use when writing short stories and what-not. I’m not sure how to describe it, but I look to my peers to influence me. It also helps that Michelle isn’t shy of pointing out typos. And I actually welcome her feedback.
