The First Travelling Video Game Expo Hits The Road

The nation’s first traveling video game expo is ready to set off in Louisville, KY on September 10 & 11 at the Kentucky Expo Center.  This will mark the start of a new concept in video game expos. By providing a large exhibit hall with tournaments, free play areas, motion gaming, product samples, panel discussion, and many other events, Level 22 Expo will bring a national caliber show to the gamers’ hometown.

The expo brings over 50,000 square feet of exhibitor space with over 200 exhibitors to each tour stop.  Another 50,000 square feet of space is dedicated to tournament play.  This allows as many as 128 competitors at a time to compete for various prizes.  Gamers will have the chance to suggest which games are played at each tour stop through the Level22Expo.com website and via Twitter and Facebook.

“There are only a few large national shows each year in large cities on each coast.  Level 22 Expo aims to bring the show to every gamer’s hometown so everyone has the chance to experience this great family friendly live event” says Chris Matz, CEO of Level 22 Expo, LLC.  The tour is planned to continue to Philadelphia, PA and Memphis, TN later this fall and to many other cities in 2012.

With over 66 percent of homes in America having video games, the appeal of video games is broad based.  “It’s not just kids who are playing video games these days”, says Chris Matz. The average age of a gamer is 34 as reported by the Entertainment Software Association in their 2010 study, Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry.
