The Division is going to test your loyalty and mental fortitude in a beta before having you go all gorilla-warfare of your friends and family for loot.
Ubisoft has unveiled that select Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC players will have access to their upcoming shooter-RPG’s beta at the end of January. Xbox One players will have a 24-hour head start on the other two on January 28 with PS4 and PC betas unlocking on the 29th. Anyone that has a pre-order for The Division can promise themselves a spot for the weekend test, or you’re welcome to sign-up for the waiting list and see if that works out. All three test periods will end on January 31.
This next Tom Clancy game isn’t for the faint of heart if Ubisoft’s advertisements are to be believed. After a particularly vacuous Black Friday, the world is plunged into chaos while entire sections of New York City, the game’s setting, become unlivable for any but the most desperate of looters. Your tactical team’s mission in The Division is to discover the origins of a deadly virus and do whatever it takes to contain those that fly against you. The other hook that Ubisoft infamously seems to be mainlining is the idea that you can completely destroy your unsuspecting allies and steal everything off their back in the well-named Dark Zone. That lovely-sounding experience will be a part of the beta as well as some story missions.
Tom Clancy’s The Division will come out of the dark on March 8 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Remind yourself of the potential terror of the Dark Zone below.
