TGF Press Start: Week Ending October 30

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what your playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

Charles: I’ve been playing BF3. The story is hands down the best in the series. I’m trudging through the single player campaign, which is incredible. I love it.

Samuel: Playing Battlefield 3 on PS3 from Redbox. The story is awful it couldn’t get anymore generic. I beg for the writing of Bad Company to put some life back into this soulless piece of trash. The gameplay is meh and it froze my PS3 4 times. I’m Also playing Sega Bass Fishing, nothing to say here just another port from the Dreamcast and Finally I’m playing Forza 4 which is just pure awesome.

Jen: I played and beat Battlefield 3 on XB360. I played the campaign and I want to like it…but…I love Bad Company 2 but I’m not getting the same good vibe that I got from that game when I’m playing BF3. Also working on getting some achivememts in Bejeweled 3 on XBLA. I found out that Pinball FX2 is free on XBL, so I picked that one up that one along with the free paranormal board. With BF3 behind me, I went back to Arkham City and started with Game Plus.

Jasdeep: With Modern Warfare 3 looming, I decided to jump back into Black Ops to try and snag a few missing trophies. Turns out I shouldn’t have bothered. Veteran difficulty, SOG, a steep hill and infinite enemy respawns. Those who’ve played it know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve also been working my way through LA Noire, which is less blood-boiling and more boredom inducing. The game falls into patterns of repetition early on and never seems to recover. It’s missing the gratifying hook which is so prevalent among Rockstar’s other titles. Luckily, Batman: Arkham City’s immense quality has helped to recover my gaming week as a whole.

John: I have NOT been playing BF3, and everyone above who has been is now on my list. I’ve been finishing up Deus Ex: HR “The Missing Link” DLC…and that’s about all I have time for right now.

Tom: I’ve been playing Team Fortress 2. The Halloween maps are fun, and fighting the Horseless Headless Horsemann and Monoculus is great. However, when I get my hands on BF3 this week, I’m sure it’ll be the main game I’ll be playing for a while.

Chris C.: Work & various other aspects of life have been me covering me like Darrelle Revis, preventing me from getting to my XBOX 360. Leaving me to play my Nintendo 3DS. Been rotating 3SS title BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II (Love wrecking CPU opponents with Noel Vermillion) & DS title, Contra 4 (Difficulty on this one chews me up and spits me back out like a bad meal).

Joanna: With the MW3 release soon, of course I’m playing Black Ops. Everytime you hit prestiege, you get a token for more unlocks in MW3. So I need to get my tokens.

DaJuan: With the announcement of Grand Theft Auto V, I’ve been going through my collection and playing GTA IV, GTA San Andreas, and GTA Chinatown Wars. I have also been playing Orcs Must Die! by Robot Entertainment. November is full of big releases some of the games I am looking forward to are Saints Row: The Third, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Jeff: Batman: Arkham City just keeps getting better. It starts off very strong, and just keeps throwing stuff to do at me. I finished the story long ago, but the side missions are everywhere, and, unlike GTA and Spider-Man, I actually feel compelled to do them.

Ben: This last week I haven’t really been playing much of anything exciting to report on. However, I did finally start playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. That’s right, I’m a full game behind. I have to say that it is just as great as people have said and I’m considering getting Arkham City when it comes out for PC.
