TGF Press Start: Week Ending November 13

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what your playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

Jake: Skyrim.

Jen: Played and beat the single player portion of MW3. Not to spoiler anything, but that game is amazing!! It felt like a roller coaster ride and I felt like I was truly there. Ending the week, is Skyrim and a certain beta that I got into but I can’t say much about….but it was awesome!!! Shame it had to happen during Skyrim weekend. I will say this (about Skyrim) that it feels too much like a Fallout game. Don’t get me wrong, I love both games but Skyrim should not feel like Fallout. Maybe some aspects are okay but when you use the same fonts, level up sounds and a few other things, it just doesn’t feel right. Either way, I have two characters right now and I plan on getting all of the achievements in Skyrim like I did with Oblivion. In one word, this past gaming week was awesome.

Jasdeep: Despite gaming time being something of a premium this week, I’ve managed to clock up a few miles in Daytona USA, as well a few kills in Modern Warfare 3. Even though I’m only Level 10, the multiplayer already feels like a refinement of the entire series- with diverse maps and some well-considered perks. I also love how the Weapon Proficiency system provides a constant feeling of progression; every kill gets me closer to that next gun upgrade. Believe or not, it’s a mechanic that’s been ripped straight out of Ratchet and Clank! No wonder it works so well.

Jeff: Fnished all of the sidequests in Arkham City. The only two things keeping me from 100% are the challenge maps and new game +. If I stop taking calls, you at least know why.

Tom: I’ve had a pretty varied gaming week to be honest! I initially purchased MW3, and had various disk errors from the moment I put the disk in my Xbox. I managed to complete the campaign, so all was not lost. However, I found the multiplayer hugely underwhelming, and I enjoy BF3 so much more. So after some careful persuasion at my local Asda, I managed to swap MW3 for Skyrim. I never played Oblivion, or Fallout even. But Skyrim has blown me away. It’s a wonderful game, and is the best gaming experience I’ve had in a very long time.

Chris C.: Trying to save up some dollars to contribute for this always expensive time in gaming, so no Modern Warfare 3 for me just yet. Still playing King of Fighters 2002: Ultimate Match trying to improve my game for when King of Fighters XIII drops later this month. While my life has been on-the-go I’ve been conquering dungeons in the original Legend of Zelda on my Nintendo 3DS.

John: I’ve been playing Bastion, The Secret Of Monkey Island, and Skyrim. I know it’s random, but it’s because of my awesome friends on Twitter gifting me great games.

DaJuan: I was lucky enough to get into the SWTOR beta over the weekend, and had a blast with it. I can’t talk about the beta for legal reasons, but I am definitely looking towards the game’s release date. I’ve also been playing a little bit of Terraria here and there. This is a big week for game releases and I cant wait to get my hands on Assassins Creed Revelations.
