The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Releases This September on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360

Sherlock Holmes returns to the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this September in Frogwares‘  The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. To celebrate, five new screenshots have been released from the game.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is an investigation game set in London during the turn of the century.  You take control of the famous detective, and even Watson during some portions, immediately following the conclusion of a case in which a set of priceless jewels are returned to the owner, only to find out the jewels are fake.  Suddenly, Holmes’ reputation is called into question and London begins to wonder if Sherlock is really all that he claims.  Even Watson, his ever-faithful companion, begins to wonder about Holmes as he acts more and more strangely.  Even Scotland Yard is after the legendary gumshoe! The trailer takes a fairly serious tone, fitting the bleak outlook of the game’s content.

As a player, you’ll be able to use Sherlock Holmes’ considerable talents and “handle and inspect clues, reenact crimes and use the game’s new deduction system to draw your own conclusions. Choose your questioning approach to catch characters off guard and gather valuable information” as you try to prove your innocence and restore the good name of Sherlock Holmes.

Your choices seem to have a deciding factor on the story as you approach a completely open investigation and must use your own deductive reasoning to make the choice you think is correct, perhaps leading to multiple play throughs with varying results depending on the clues and choices you make.

So, if you’ve been looking for a head-scratching game to play this fall, or you’re just a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, be sure to check out The Testament of Sherlock Holmes this fall, by Frogwares, on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 September 2012.
