Telltale to Bring Batman and The Walking Dead: Season 3 in Summer and Fall This Year

Telltale

Telltale is sticking to their original plan and delivering their Batman adaptation very soon. Fans of The Walking Dead series may find comforting that the third installment will start during fall.

Back in March we covered the official announcement of Telltale’s very own adaptation of the Batman universe for you. Loyal to their secretiveness, the folks at the Californian studio had retreated to the world of development ever since, without teasing nor commenting anything more about their future projects. Until now.

The silence was cleared yesterday with a straight-to-the-point tweet by Job Stauffer, Telltale Games Head of Creative Communications. He confirmed three interesting things: that the Batman game is still on schedule and will have its premiere during summer, that The Walking Dead: Season 3 is starting immediately after, during fall, and that they may be at E32016 to, perhaps, show us more about all it all.

There’re not so many things to confirm about these two titles. From Batman we can expect a rather serious game. The story to be played is completely a product of Telltale’s script writers and not tied up to any game, comic or movie ever made – although we’ll probably be meeting very old friends and witnessing one or two special cameos (ok, that’s a wish on our part). Decision-time will be a constant and each decision we take as either Batman or Wayne will affect the world lead by the other one. From The Walking Dead: Season 3 we even know less. But it seems that Clementine has aged and it’s coming back, kicking zombie arses like there was no tomorrow.

A technical detail for the avid: the graphic engine has been revamped for both of them. Which was a much needed improvement, on the other hand.

Telltale
Telltale likes it mysterious. We have not seen a single image of the game so far.

Telltale’s Complete Agenda

A very cool thing about Telltale is that they manage to manage multiple franchises at the same time (from their first IP until today they have grown from 70 to near 350 people). Even if it’s only in pre-production, the list of games is quite amazing and forecasts fruitful months for all fans of their stories.

Moving into 2017 one of the first new titles will be the beginning of a “Untitled Marvel Series”, followed by the Season 2 of their acclaimed Game of Thrones franchise plus an interesting project, Super Show, which seems to take the legacy started by Quantum Break. The Super Show initiative will combine “one part of interactive playable content with one part of scripted television style content”, therefore making a trans-media episode (via Entertainment Weekly).

It seems, the inspiration never stops!
