SXSW: Slacker Radio Partners With Rockcityclub.com

Music Powerhouses Join Forces to Create World’s First Radio Channel for Undiscovered Artists and Bands

SXSW this year has seen a lot of great friendships established, none more so than that of start-up Rockcityclub.com and Slacker Radio.

Through this historic affiliation, Rockcityclub.com (http://rockcityclub.com) — a start-up company dedicated to helping independent music artists get discovered and become successful– will soon launch a new channel on Slacker Radio dedicated to showcasing the talents of undiscovered artists and bands.

The web-based Rockcityclub.com is transforming the landscape of the independent music community by consolidating services such as artist development, promotion and distribution into a one-stop shop integrated with Facebook, Twitter and other social media, and by offering music fans an easy way to discover and engage new artists and bands around the world.

Slacker, Inc., one of the hottest interactive radio services available, is working with Rockcityclub.com to kick off the new “Slacker Spotlight station,” called ROCK CITY CLUB. The station will be dedicated to highlighting the talents of undiscovered artists and bands from Rockcityclub.com. This new station will provide standout Rockcityclub.com artists and bands with the opportunity to broadcast their music to millions of potential fans online at Rockcityclub.com and now on Slacker Radio to be broadcast through the Internet and to mobile devices everywhere.

“With this partnership, we’re giving birth to the world’s first radio station devoted exclusively to giving undiscovered artists and bands the chance to have their music heard by millions of potential fans 24 hours a day,” said Jack Wishna, the noted entrepreneur and promoter who founded Rockcityclub.com. “For artists looking for their big break, the powerful combination of Rockcityclub.com and Slacker gives them by far the most visible exposure they can find for their music and their careers.”

In addition, Slacker, Inc. has agreed to offer the members of Rockcityclub.com extraordinary opportunities that most unsigned talent could never have the chance to take advantage of before.

“Having the best of Rockcityclub.com’s rising artists on Slacker Radio is a notable breakthrough, putting artists on an even level with larger, label-backed acts,” said Jonathan Sasse, SVP marketing of Slacker. “This will enable emerging artists to have an audience with the millions of Slacker Radio listeners while giving fans the ability to propel their favorite artists to new heights.”

“We are proud to have Slacker Radio as one of our key partners and we’re looking forward to giving our members another outlet to get their music heard by millions of new fans,” said Ofek Hayon, Chief Business Development Officer at Rockrena Inc. “At the same time, Slacker listeners are going to be in for a treat with all the new talent they will be discovering on the Rock City Club station.”
