Sword of Crota Available In Latest Destiny Public Event

Crota’s Sword will now be available for use in Destiny as players can now use the mighty sword to wail on the Hive in a new event called “Blades of Crota.”

This new public event will allow one lucky player to use the sword to wreak havoc on the Hive’s forces for one full minute. After the event starts, players will see the message “The minions of Crota have started a ritual. The Blades of Crota have invaded this world.”

A Hive Knight will appear thereafter and attack. Kill said knight and he’ll drop his sword, giving you the chance to wield the sword in his stead against his Horde brethren. The sword lasts for just 60 seconds, so players better use this small window to cause as much damage as they can.

When using Crota’s Sword, player perspective switches from first to third person. Melee attacks are replaced by a sword slash and auto targets nearby enemies. The right trigger button performs an overhead slash while hitting the super buttons executes an even stronger overhead attack. Grenades still work while wielding the sword as well.

Swords will also be used in the new raid called “Crota’s End”, much to the delight of Destiny players. Let’s just hope that the people over at Activision and Bungie will allow swords to be more of a permanent fixture as far as weaponry goes.
