Street Fighter V Beta Postponed Indefinitely After Rough Launch

Street Fighter V

A very rocky launch weekend has left Capcom no choice but to deliver some disappointing news to the fighting game community today: the Street Fighter V beta has been postponed indefinitely.

Capcom has stated that the beta was taken down for what they are calling an “extended maintenance,” as they felt a vast majority of players were having negative experiences with the beta.

This first Street Fighter V beta was originally advertised as a global event. Players from all of the regions were supposed to be able to hop online and experience the game. That of course was not what happened. On launch day, most of the player base was essentially locked out of the game, and were unable to find matches at all. Because of these nagging server issues, Capcom had to pull the event back to a North America only test.

While Capcom is not sure how long it will take for them to have the beta ready for their players, they have assured their player base that this will not affect the previously announced allotment of betas, and that there will be at least three before the official launch of the title. So anyone who has pre-ordered the game will still be able to feel safe with their pre-order incentive. Furthermore, to make up for the frustrating state of the attempted beta, Capcom has also announced that they will be creating some sort of in game incentive to apologize to any affected players.

Street Fighter V is the newest announced title in the long running, and extremely popular fighting game franchise. It was announced on December 6th, 2014 as a PlayStation 4 and PC exclusive title. It is slated for a March 2016 release date.

As more information on the impending relaunch of the beta is released, we will be sure to bring them to you.
