Street Fighter Is Coming To Mobile

It’s official, Capcom has plans to bring the venerable fighting franchise Street Fighter to mobile devices.

In a press release by the publisher, their mobile gaming subsidiary Beeline has announced they are partnering with the leading platform in mobile competitive gaming, Skillz, all to bring the complex nail-biting thrills of Street Fighter to the platform.

An official statement from Beeline about the partnership follows:

“We’ve always believed that multiplayer and spectatorship are integral to the Street Fighter experience,” said Midori Yuasa, CEO of Beeline Interactive, Inc. “We’re excited to partner with the Skillz platform to deliver the next evolution of this competitive series to mobile gamers.”

This means that in addition to being able to play a new competitive Street Fighter on mobile games, you can also use Skillz to watch competitive tournaments hosted natively on the platform and tune in to live broadcasts, similar to popular streaming services like Twitch or Beam.

Considering that Skillz has over 2.6 billion mobile players and has been continuously growing since their founding in 2012, it’s a safe bet that a new installment in Capcom’s highly regarding fighting series would be warmly embraced there.

And the people at Skillz seems to agree:

“With this partnership, Street Fighter will define the future of competitive mobile gameplay,” said Andrew Paradise, CEO and founder of Skillz. “With worldwide competitions and countless physically organized events, Street Fighter has helped lay the foundation of modern pro gaming for both players and spectators. We’re excited to facilitate the delivery of this competitive experience to mobile gamers.”

Only time will tell, Andrew, only time will tell. So what are your thoughts on firing Hadokens or pulling off Raging Demon finishers on mobile? Let us know in the comments!
