SOPA and PIPA's Father Makes His Appearance Across the World

SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act) have what appears to be a father. Not in the literal sense, but in the form of a bill that will utterly destroy the internet. SOPA, was about granting companies the authority to remove your site from popular search engines, and if the content you posted linked to say somewhere like Google, they would have the right to shut your site down along with Google. SOPA is a last stitch effort for companies in the entertainment industry to climb their way out of hell like Kratos did in God of War.

PIPA on the other hand is more of a watered down version of SOPA, which tries to highlight key intellectual properties, of which companies like Disney, Warner Bro’s, and Sony Pictures can try to protect from reselling and mass production. Not as bad as SOPA but your site can still be shut down.

ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement)! On the other hand is like using a nuclear warhead on an anthill. ACTA defines you as a criminal before you even commit the crime, ACTA wants to your ISP provider to monitor all your internet activity, and then go through the packets to see if you were ‘POSSIBLY’ doing something illegal. So instead of big brother watching you, we have HAL instead. ACTA also contains within it harsher penalties than SOPA. Instead of a website getting shut down, you get shutdown. So no internet for you…EVER! ACTA, also has legislation within it similar to that of PIPA but to the one millionth degree. This means no parody videos of your favorite characters, or YouTube P**p as some users have come to know it as. Even fan made English dubs of anime or foreign films won’t be allowed. All the bills in this post will have you serving some form of jail time as well, which is ridiculous.

ACTA has been in circulation for years now around the world in secret closed door meetings, all attempts to make the bill public have been ignored. Even with the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) which allows citizens to view documents that weren’t previously viewable. The White House at every turn has said “No we got this, trust us; you don’t need to see what’s in this bill”. But thanks to a few Anonymous people we have the bill in full detail here.

The lawmakers and officials of the world seem to have forgotten about the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act); this bill was created for the sole purpose of protecting intellectual properties and prosecuting those who tried to make a profit on them. I’m sure many of you have experienced the all too popular phrase “This content is not available in your region”. That my friends is the DMCA at work, doing exactly what SOPA,PIPA, and now ACTA plan on doing , but instead with  a nuclear warhead. So for the third time this year the internet is under attack and it’s up to all of you to contact your local congressmen/women and tell them to oppose this bill or they’ll be losing your vote come the next election period.

Unfortunately for us U.S Citizens, President Barack Obama has already signed off on ACTA, and a legal team is looking for some clause to repeal his signature, because this bill will remove our freedoms as American citizens. As my grandfather once said “Sometimes you have to beat somebody’s a** before they understand their f**king up” and it seems every politician we have in office is well over due for extra-large can of Whoop A**. I know violence isn’t the way, and we at the TGF will not condone nor conduct any violent behavior toward any public appointed official.

Below this post is a full video detailing the ins and outs of ACTA and how it will affect us. Maybe I should get used to the phrase “I can’t do that Dave…“.
