Sony Looking Into Firmware Problems

Reports from the Sony PS3 forums have been receiving messages from users that certain third-party controllers no longer work on their PS3 since updating their system with the 3.50 Firmware.

The update (released last week), enabled PS3 the capability of watching 3D Blu-ray movies but at the same time causing USB devices to stop working altogether.

This is especially troubling because Users are reporting that certain MadCatz controllers, and even some licensed Guitar Hero controllers, are no longer functioning. And the same was reported with PS2 to Ps3 controller converters having the similar problems.

A consumer alert was posted by Sony, the same time the Firmware was to be released to PS3 users. Saying this;

“SCEA does not support continued functionality of counterfeit or unlicensed controllers in system software updates and these devices may cease to function in the future because of system software updates.

“SCE and its affiliated companies disclaim all liability for any loss or damage suffered by you or any third party through the use of counterfeit or unlicensed products.”
